Anyway, now I'm imagined all as you said and it should looks perfect!
can you tell me how you made the gas giant?
Drawing a planet, I started from a main color (near pastel orange), then lighten horizon zone with yellow in different blend modes, selected stripes colors (all not so bright - brown, pale green, dark violet and others) and almost chaoticaly paint lines on two layers with "lighten" and "dodge" with soft brush and high transparency (stipes lays under horizon layer). For the final I take almost all layers and double them with different blends... yeah, love this way :3 So, it was an improvisation, there is no "right" technique - any method, which would satisfy you with result, will be good.
